its not that its wrong, it inefficient movement to do it with the three strings and doesnt always sound as clear ( at least when I try it that way) but then again I'm not Yngwie and that was just the first example I can think of right now considering I havent looked at or needed to look at a tab in 5 years.

The other thing that is tabbed wrong in the Trilogy Suite is the down scale run he does starting on G when the drums kick in fully. I don't have a tab maker, and I'm at work trying to do this from memory, but I'll try to write it . The book has it going E: 15-16-15 B:18-16-15 G: 17-16-17 ETC... but what he really does is the same type of harmonic minor downscale as in many other of his songs: E: 15-16-15-13 B: 16-15-13-12-13-15-13-12 G:12-13-12-10 D: 13-12-10-9-10-12-10-9 A: 11 I think thats right. What I found after a while was that if something tabbed seems vastly different than anything else he does it's probably tabbed wrong, but the actual notes are usually correct. I think the person who tabs it is probably under a deadline to get it out and I'm sure it takes forever to even get it this close.

I have the same problem on three strings with the notes not sounding clear. I've been practicing it that way though because it's a good excerise to get you to slightly lift your fingers to mute each note after you play it. Plus, I can't do it up to speed the other way anyway (at least not clearly LOL).

you take shortcuts and youll never develop..
if something is hard and you cant do it, every second you are awake and with a guitar infront of you, do it till you can..
Yngwie didnt take shortcuts.

The arpeggios on the trilogi song can also be played with 3-sting arpeggios, just not consistant down up, down up. But with different variations. listen to Yngwies LIVE!! and his verion of the song there, then youll understand. Yes, sometimes he improvises it and inverts the arpeggios.

you know ive heard a similar theory, that when your sitting alone, visualising yourself playing something is meant to help enormously.. but i see no sense in it, but ive never tried it and it doesnt seem logical, and in no way shape or form does that mean its illogical.. but you cant force a dream on it can you? where you can visualise yourself doing it.. Like when i was on a beach in Menorca 2 weeks ago listening to Yngwie, and i imagined me playing it.. so i went back to my apartment and practiced.. i also get it when watching a video of a shredder you admie, when you play, you notice something different in your playing, like after watching Jason Becker i see myself holding the guitar more claw-like, as he does.. and after Yngwie is in his patterns when im messing around. Weird.. guitarists.. arent we ?

just must know after seeing / hearing something and getting jealous and anxious you play and are in that mood and seem to play an awfully lot better...
rather than when your fingers hurt, you have no moisture in your fingers and your strings and your tired..
heauge difference.

but you cant force a dream on it can you? where you can visualise yourself doing it.. ? just try. I do that nearly all the time. I'm more creative in my sleep and I have opera dreams with Mozart-type music and really convoluted plots and stuff like that. You just have to be thinking about it. Next time you're dreaming, just think of playing something really cool on your guitar, and before you know it that guitar will be in your hands and you'll be shredding away like Yngwie! Your creative potential will be unleashed. If only real life was that much fun...

Its not taking short cuts to do something with a more efficient movement, sure its good to be good anyway that you do something, but with the almost limitless possibilities of doing something on a fretboard I would hardly consider one way a naughty shortcut.

it wasnt what was being done here i was hinting it..
it was the attitude.
this wasnt about trilogy suite, it was about the 'easiest / best' way there was a general "stick to what someone does"
like in this JB song im learning, there is a hard bit and im guilty of changing part of a song.. but only till i have practiced it enough to be able to substitute it in where i have altered it to tapping.
i see no problem in leaving it changed, if its easier, i mean this tab i got, might be totally wrong, its probably from ear and not perfect but its written there, and im not gonna stop till i have got that lick down.
