hello, my name is rui, and I'll be skyeuphoria around here, if you don't mind well, i'm portuguese, 16 years old, two years playing classical guitar, one year and a half on the electric. i also try to struggle in the bass, sometimes, but mainly for the bass lines of my band (which is composed by only two members, me and my drummer, and it's called Instru Mental. yeah, you may recognize it from the song "Instru Mental Instituiton". i would be lying if i told you that song's is the main reason to give this name to my band, but, anyway, i sent an e-mail to yngwie's manager, who was a gentleman, and told me that mr. yngwie said there was no problem with us using the name. if he really said that, i can't tell, just because i can't imagine a busy person like yngwie having the time to think, but i'm more than happy with the reply. ) i had my first contact with yngwie's music a year and a half ago (exactly when i started electric guitar). it was my ex-music teacher who told me about "that guy that was extremely fast". i said "llright, let's check it", becuase i was really deep on exploring new ground on guitar playing, and i was impressed by everything. yngwie impressed me. but i felt he was not just "another one". he had something special, that caught me (in the middle). here in portugal it is rare to meet someone who knows yngwie malmsteen, and that kind of worries me. people around here don't seem to really care about pure and beautiful music. i own all yngwie cds, and the "trial by fire" (recorded in the same year i was born) and the "concerto" dvd. i love them all. i just love every second from every song on them. i'll be glad to be a member in this boards, to get to meet you, all my "forum-mates", and to as helpful as i can in every little thing you need. hugs, skyeuphoria

Hey guys, Iv'e been a fan since i was about 20, I play bass in a rock band, but I have to tell you, he's the king of guitarists. I saw him at madison square garden about a year ago and it he completely blew my mind . His licks and arpegios are mind-bending, damn If I could play half as well as he does (well, maybe a quarter lol) I would be a happy guy indeed!!!

Hi Rui. It's great to have you here. I have the same problem with people here in the UK saying "Yngwie who?"

Hi, I am from the UK. I am a recent convert to YJM after watching a G3 DVD. Not only do I find his playing superb, but I find his stage presence/attitude to be very cool! I hope to incorporate some YJM licks into my live stage show soon

Well, since other members has introduced themselves I think it´s time for me to post a short instroduction ´bout myself:) My name is Mike and I´m from Sweden. I have been a genuin fan of Yngwie since he released "Marching Out" back in 1985. I was completely floored when I first heard that album so, from that moment on I have loved Yngwies music. I have also gotten the opportunity to meet the maestro himself a couple of times so, if anyone says to me that Yngwie is a "prick" I´ll ask them; have you met him? He has been very, very nice to me all the times I met him. He also invited me and a friend of mine backstage before a show in Malmoe (Sweden) during the "Magnum opus" tour. We talked for about 3 hours and I can tell ya, I was like a kid during christmas time;). I was rather late watching him live thou. The first time I saw him live was in 1994 (Seventh sign tour) so, I should´ve seen him during the Odyssey tour and also the "Eclipse" tour but, for several reasons it didn´t happen until 1994:/. I am an official musician (lead vocalist) myself and have released 1 album (the 31:st of February 2005). Our album is released all over Europe and Asia. It will be released in the U.S as well very soon. We will release our next album during spring 2006. Our music can be described as "melodic metal with progressive touches" and clips from our album can be found at www.melodicrock.com (search for Cloudscape). I have performed music since the late eighties in different bands but, "Cloudscape" is the first band that captured the attension from record labels. Our first concert outside of Sweden will be in The Netherlands at an indoor festival called "Progpower Europe" the 2:nd of October. I also have a girlfriend and 2 sons (4 and 8 years old). By the way, I will handle the vocals on an forthcoming album that includes 2 old Yngwie members but, I can´t tell you much about that right now since our management hasn´t made it public yet;) Stay tuned... It´s great to be a member of this forum where me and all other Yngwie fans can unite in discussions about the maestro himself:))))
