Yngwie tunes all his guitars to Eb, so yes, true... and I think also better.

I played "Far beyond the sun" all the time I was learning it in standard tuning (EBGDAE) but playing the same frets as Yngwie plays it, so it was a semitone too high. I did'nt want to detune all the strings by a semitone because I was just getting the hang of knowing all the notes on the fretboard. BUT apparently when you detune, you still call all the notes the same as previously! So I'd suggest trying it - it makes bends on the 22nd fret high E string much easier and far beyond the sun sounds about 5 times better. I would think it changes the tension in the neck or something so maybe you will need to get something altered? I have'nt done anything else to mine but I'm sure someone here will know if it's needed

I think tuning to E minor sounds fine but theres one sound I can't stand:
Hearing something that's tried to tune to Eb but tuned out of tune to it. Ugh! It's like hearing a guitar out of tune.

I don't think you would have to do anything different. Maybe use heavier gauge on the lower strings than you are used to, in order to maintain tone.

You shouldnt need to do anything for only a 1/2 step detune. In fact I find that my guitars (especially the strats) sound better and stay in tune better. Dont know why, but to me they do. You could go to a heavier set of lower strings ( i do) like the Queen said and get an even chunkier sound.
