Hi fellow Malmsteen fans !

I have loved Yngwie's music since I first heard FAR BEYOND THE SUN on an Aussie metal radio show back in the mid 80's. As you can see by my name I am a drummer, and have been in a few semi-successful metal bands over the years, but I love guitar too. There have been many great metal guitar players over the years, but I rate Yngwie the best of the best. He is simply phenomonal !

My favorite Malmsteen songs would probably be KRAKATAU, RISING FORCE, BLACK STAR, AS ABOVE SO BELOW, CRASH AND BURN, EVIL EYE, in fact, there are too many to mention. I love all of his stuff.

I guess the main reason I decided to log onto a Malmsteen forum was because I heard the awesome news that Yngwie is coming to Australia in November and I thought it was time to find some other Malmsteen fans and discuss why the man is so great.

Believe it or not, my favorite band of all time is KISS, which are so very different than Yngwie, but I love a lot of old school classic rock like Zeppelin, Sabbath, Motley Crue, Twisted Sister, Metallica, the list goes on.

Anyway, I look forward to chatting to you guys and girls here on this forum.

It's cool that Yngwie's going to Australia -- this is the first I've heard of it. When was the last time he was over there?

As for the last time Yngwie toured Australia, I can vaguely remember he visited here way back in the early 90's. If he came here after that, sadly I did not hear about it. I am so looking forward to seeing the man live. Should be an awesome show. Having been a fan for 20+ years and never seeing him before, I will be so psyched when it finally does happen.

Glad to have you aboad! Kiss was one of my faves growing up too. Funny to hear Yngwie say that Gene approached him about replacing Vinnie Vincent. I would have thought Gene was sharp enough to see that Yngwie would be way too opinionated and visionary to join the band and just play the pop songs that he and Paul wrote. Or maybe he did know and was trying to see if he could create a buzz around Kiss by having the best electric guitar player on the planet join the band, if only for one album! I'm guessing it wasn't a proper offer but more a converstation where Gene was feeling him out to see if he'd fit .
