yeah, I was just going to go check the window to see if the seventh seal had opened and hell was swallowing the earth when I read that someone with your skill and talent didnt like the concerto. lol I was just having one of my fastidious moments. Not even Yngwie can escape my hyper-perfectionist scrutiny when I'm like this! You'll learn soon enough when I say something really stupid, like I did yesterday, to just ignore me

I was just thinking that it was an amazinly brave to do this orchestra thing, cuz apart from the movies I am not aware of anybody who is writing new concerto suites. You never hear of somebody been hailed as the new Beethoven. So Anybody know how Yngwies work was recieved in the 'classical world'? I'm writing a double concerto at the moment ;D so I'll keep you posted on that when I've got something recorded that shows basically what it is I'm doing. It's a traditional arrangement with the fast-slow-fast movements, but the solo instruments are electric guitar and 6 string electric violin. Think along the lines of Bach's double violin concerto but with a lot more <>s (I'm using a lot of double harmonic and hungarian minor in this). As for how Yngwie's concerto was received by the classical world, those who know about it love it and respect him as a classical composer and musician, but unfortunately those who know are not very many in number

Ok. This is my last post from Colchester -- I'm moving house today! Now this is someting that makes me laugh everytime I hear it -- that musical cliche that I call "THE END". That's the most cheesy perfect cadence and is the equivalent of writing "THE END" at the end of a story. So many movements in the concerto suite end like this -- it's just so funny. I never use this ending any more except as a joke but I used to all the time. Only Yngwie could end at least 3 movements in a suite like this and still be taken seriously! lmao THE END

I always thought it was law that all concerto suites had to end this way

welcome to my view of a few weeks ago Anne, i know the 'whats the point' feeling..
but what pisses is me off, is he started with a variety, and its like a giant triangle..
its just closing in, getting smaller and smaller, and he is calling it 'finally getting his own style'.. but, it did kinda widen with UTF, so that is better...
was Concerto before or after Attack, cos i think there is some fantastic stuff on Attack...
but in a classical situation he is very limited there, and i dont want him to be.

The concerto was written around the 1995 or 1996 time i think. I remember seeing him play a couple of movements at the National music show of 1996. Attack was in 2002 so there is a big time difference.

He is, I saw somewhere that it is written but he needs to score it and whatever.

Actually, I never much liked Attack -- it doesn't have that magic that some of his other albums have, kinda bland for the most part except for a few rays of light. So I'm really glad that UTF was miles better, or I might have thought that Yngwie was losing it before I'd even got a chance to really know his music.

Well, I have enjoyed classical music for years, in great part due to Yngwie's earlier works, such as his first album, Trilogy Suite, and such. Upon hearing that Yngwie was classically inspired and very Bach/Pagannini influenced, I began listening to classical music in the late eighties, and have grown to love it very much. My ladyfriend is much more in to classical than rock. Both of us enjoyed the cd. Nice music, good classical works without a rock flavor played by a very fine guitarist. Rather than seeing it as a rehash of Yngwie's material in a classical form, I saw it as a fuller realization of his material.
