Alright, so I got to go see Yngwie again last night in CT. There is much to say, Im not sure where to begin. Well we show up at aout 7:30 and our first impression of the venue is OMG! what a shite hole! This place was a DUMP! how the hell they book the bands that they do Ill never know. Anyway enough about the place, the opening bands as usual are sub par for any real fan of rock/metal or music in general. After enduring 1&1/2 hours of that crap the maestro finally starts with his usual backstage teasing, then Derek (he was bad ass!) brings on the rising force intro and BOOM! Yngwie shoots out from backstage like from a cannon and DAMN does he look 110% better than even the last time I saw him in November! His face was so much more chiseled and his clothes are fitting better. I would say that if he lost another 20 pounds he would look 20 again. Lets talk sound for a moment, we all know that Yngwies sound is always perfect, but when the hell are they going to get Doogie's vocals right. This was the second show that I have seen him get pissed off and storm off stage to yell at the sound guy. Other than Doogies vocals the sound was beautiful, Yngwie performed like a man posessed it was the best Ive ever seen him play live and he was great in Boston. A true showman he was last night, and dead accurate and crisp on the strings. On a side note here, has anyone noticed all of the fights that happen over the picks that he throws? Ive never seen anything like it, There was at least 6 fights that I saw over these things. I also feel very special as Yngwie saw it fit to mess with me all night by throwing picks directly at me ( I was in the front row) at least a dozen times and missed damn near everyone of them getting smirks and a couple of finger wags from Yngwie. If it wasnt for my wife I probably wouldnt have any picks at all (she caught 8 and I only 2) I did however manage to catch his towel that he threw and that was cool. All in all an awesome show, I wish I could some how squeeze in time to go to the Orlando show as well as this was a great show in a poor venue which is also what suprised me, there was a dissappointingly small number of people there last night maybe only about 1500 or so compared to what Ive seen before. Maybe it was the fact that the place was a dump. I hope everybody gets a chance to see him this time around as you will not be dissapointed.
