Having the action high is good for sustain and YJM has his action pretty high. I set mine up so that if Im on the 17th fret on strings 1-3 it doesnt get fret buzz, and strings 4-6 on the 15th fret. This will help your higher notes be clearer, especially when you do bends. Overall it helps sustain.

The action on my 2005 YJM Signature Strat is fairly low compared to Yngwie's personal guitars. His action is quite high, and I'm sure only he can can play them accurately. The Yngwie Magic .008-.048 strings make a big difference, with the bass strings especially! Regards Voodoo/Yngve308/Yngwie308

Speaking of strings, the .048 Low E string dosen't fit into the capstan hole of the tuning machine. The diameter of the string is slightly too large for the central hole, which is how the string is stabilised.I had to wrap it differently on that one string. The other alternative would to drill out the hole slightly,or use a dremel tool to open the diameter of the hole, which is wierd as I used to use Dean Markley Light Top Heavy Bottom sets with my '57 reissue Fender Strat, and the low E string in that set is .052 and it fit the central hole ok,so I think the seventies type tuners on the Yngwie Strat have a smaller diameter central hole.
